I've been admiring the many lovely gradient dyed yarn kits independent dyers are offering. This shawl has been written with instructions to produce an ombre effect but it could be just as fun to change colors every two rows, for a more striped effect, or change the order of the colors.

Stitch pattern is offered in both charted and written out instructions. Pattern uses US crochet terminology, throughout.

This shawl is also available as a set with the matching cowl pattern as well part of an ebook that includes the Precipice Cowl, Aasha and Phosphene.

One size

Approximately 64" /162.5 cm wingspan, 32" / 81 cm depth after blocking.

960 yd / 874 m fingering weight yarn in 6 colors; 160 yd / 146 m per color.

4 Mini-Skein Sets Pigeonroof Studios, Luxury Sock (70% superwash merino wool, 20% cashmere, 10% nylon) – 240 yd / 219 m per 6-skein set in Aquatic

Note: Each Mini-Skein Set contains 6 colors

  • US G / 4mm crochet hook*
    Tapestry needle
* Or size to obtain gauge

1 repeat = 3" / 7.5 cm wide after blocking

Note: Gauge is approximated here and is not instrumental to the success of this shawl but may impact the finished size and yardage required for your piece. Yardage has been slightly over estimated to account for swatching and variation in gauge.
