We went out and celebrated last night. Here's us having dinner.
After this, I may, possibly, have run through the streets of downtown Portland, screaming the name of our new president elect.

How long has it been since the general public has been so excited about the president elect? Around here, not in my lifetime before now.

On election day, I was waiting to vote with my sweetie, after he got off work. That meant that all day I was avoiding any sort of possible results or predictions. I came to your blog and when I saw the map (briefly, before I scrolled) it seemed all read. I had a sinking feeling...
But OMG I guess Americans have more sense than I gave them credit for.
Except those stinky noobs that voted yes on 8. They suck.

My niece lives in DC and she walked a couple miles to the White House with friends to party in the streets. Incidentally, her birthday was also Tuesday and I heard rumors that she was hugging strangers to thank them for giving her Obama for her birthday.

My friend Debi was taking her trash out and heard her neighbors out on the street yelling in unison "THANK YOU GOD!".

It's certainly a historic event, and I'm so happy to be a part of it!
Finally, some hope for the future and the prospect of less corruption in the presidency.
Tears of hope/joy/inspiration during his speech last night.

There was a countdown to eight o'clock, and my brother was on the phone with me. We counted down like it was New Year's, and all of a sudden -
BOOM!
Obama was elected.
There wasn't a dry eye in the house.

I'm too old to go running through the streets but I had a few tears in my eyes & felted choked up. I do feel a wee bit sad though at losing such a fantastic senator - I've felt for the past 4 years that we had the 2 best senators around in Illinois (rivaled by NY's) & I'm not sure I trust our whacko governor to appoint someone half as good.
